Abstract
Članek reinterpretira modernizem v arhitekturi, ga razume širše kot zgolj gibanje v 20. stoletju, in sicer kot ponavljajoče se prelomne trenutke skozi zgodovino arhitekture. Kot primer takšnega razumevanja modernizma analizira gotsko arhitekturo. Osredotoča se na gotski konstrukcijski eksperiment, ki je omogočil prehod k vitkemu skeletu. Metoda dela je zgodovinska analiza razvoja gotske konstrukcije. Rezultati kažejo, da so srednjeveški gra- ditelji z iterativnim eksperimentiranjem v merilu 1 : 1, intuicijo in modularnostjo razvili inovativen konstrukcijski sistem. Gotska arhitektura ponuja dragocene lekcije za sodobno prakso glede inovacij v negotovih razmerah.
